Despite the warnings of extreme wetness and wind, a group of dedicated students and faculty take a break from the research symposium to see Ruby Beach. The Olympic National Park has more that 60 miles of Pacific Ocean coastline. Superintendent Bill Laitner informed us of a current proposal for an intertidal zone preserve that would prohibit the harvesting of marine species. The proposed zoning would include 38% of the parks beaches such as this one.
